The function of this ministry is to lend a "small" support to those in our community that could use a helping hand. Three times a year we come together to make up food baskets for the holidays, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas. At these times we prepare between 60 and 65 baskets for those who can use a little help. Our ministry could not accomplish this without the generosity of the entire parish. Along with a food basket, at Christmas, the Giving Tree provides gifts for most of the children and single recipients on our list.
The remainder of the year, we are able to provide emergency food baskets, which can help a family or an individual, get through a difficult time. For a number of years, our efforts have been joined with other town organizations known as Elmwood Park Community Services.
