“The musical tradition of the Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater even than that of any other art. The main reason for this… is that…it forms a necessary or integral part of solemn liturgy.”
(paragraph 1156 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church)
The church has always offered worship through song and music. On the parish level, church music and congregational singing go together to create an atmosphere of good worship. Here at Saint Leo’s, we are very blessed to have a good music ministry along with a choir which leads song at our 10:30am liturgy on Sundays from September through June.
Adult Choir
The primary focus of St. Leo’s Choir is to support the assembly at liturgy in the Singing of the hymns and responses and to lift their hearts and minds through the great legacy of music that belongs to the Church.
St. Leo’s Choir is composed of volunteer singers from throughout the Bergen County area and beyond. Our members have regular rehearsal on Wednesdays from 7:45pm- 9:00pm in the church. If interested, please come any Wednesday or contact any choir member after Mass on Sunday.
Those who can read music are also invited to join as part-time members and help sing on holidays and special occasions.
