“The matrimonial covenant, by which man and woman establish between themselves a partnership of the whole of like, is by its nature ordered toward the good of the spouses and the procreation and education of children; this covenant…has been raised by Christ the Lord to the dignity of a sacrament.”
(paragraph 1601, Catechism of the Catholic Church, 1994)
The sacrament of marriage is an important event by which the church blesses the union and love of a man and woman. A couple confers the sacrament on one another through the vows which they exchange. Because this sacrament is so important to the spiritual and family life of the couple, proper preparation of the engaged couple is necessary. This preparation includes the initial parish contact to set up a date (this date must be reserved at least one year in advance of the wedding), several meetings with the priest performing the ceremony, and participation in the Archdiocesan Pre-Cana Program.
All engaged couples who want to get married at Saint Leo’s must be active members and registered at our parish. Please contact the parish office or one of the parish priests to set up an initial meeting about a wedding date.
