Adult Faith Formation (RCIA)
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is for those individuals age 18 and over who wish to be baptized or complete their initiation into the Roman Catholic Church. It is a warm, inviting experience of Church and Christian fellowship. Preparation for Baptism lasts for at least one year. Baptism is celebrated at the Easter Vigil (the Saturday night before Easter). At this time, the candidate also celebrates Confirmation and First Eucharist to complete initiation into the Church. Generally speaking, candidates meet once (or twice) a week in a relaxed, adult atmosphere.
For an individual (age 18 and over) who has been baptized, as a Catholic or in another Christian tradition, and wants to complete initiation into the Catholic Church with Confirmation and/or Eucharist, the RCIA provides for preparation for adult Confirmation. Preparation begins just after Christmas and concludes with Confirmation being conferred on Pentecost Sunday. Candidates meet once a week for about an hour.
There is no tuition to join RCIA!
